Everything You Need to Know About Driving Digital Donations

Welcome to part 2 of 3 of our Marketing and Fundraising Innovation series where we will be discussing the latest innovations and tools to help third sector organisations maximise online fundraising and drive repeat donations.

Salesforce.org research reports that one in four not-for-profits in Europe saw a drop in donor numbers in 2021, despite seven in ten increasing their reach and engagement with supporters digitally. This suggests they may not be making the most of the opportunities available to them online – for example, how should they be upselling to new donors who came to them during the pandemic?

So, how can charities improve the online user experience to keep the emotional connection with their donors intact? What digital tools can be used to make donating seamless, and what role does AI now play in fundraising?

In this Third Sector Insight webinar, in partnership with Salesforce.org, we talk to the charities that have challenged their operating model and harnessed digital donations to unlock growth opportunities. Our panel of experts will discuss the following trends and case studies:

User/donor experience

  • Providing a seamless experience – how can we improve user experience online and make the donation process seamless, to encourage regular giving? (eg some not-for-profits run workshops to help donors make the transition to online). How does this vary depending on the demographic of your donors?
  • Personalisation – How can we use data to personalise the donor journey and how can it help to drive donations online?
  • Impact reporting – Why is demonstrating the impact of a donation so important? Eg donors are far more likely to re-donate if you share the impact of their donation.

Payment systems/case studies

  • Open banking – a technology that allows donations to be made straight from a donor’s bank account to the charity’s bank account.
  • QR codes – once perceived as old-fashioned, QR codes have finally found their true purpose. They are a quick, easy and shareable way to promote your charity and drive online donations. For example, they can be used on T-shirts or to push door-to-door donations (Greenpeace).
  • Chatbots, predictive giving and AI – what are the opportunities and innovations associated with fundraising?
