CloseAccording to a recent Sage and Third Sector survey, 40% of non-profits report a drop in funding over the past 12 months – government, corporate and individual funding is all down. So, it’s more important than ever that charities consider diversifying their fundraising efforts to tap into new audiences and create new income streams.
But with so much noise around how to build new funding sources, it can be difficult to know where to start. CloseHaving worked in Fundraising for over 12 years, Lauren Ambrose, has practical experience of generating income from a range of sources. Starting her career in face-to-face fundraising on high streets across London was no mean feat, and taught her the importance of connecting to your cause while being donor centric. Since then, Lauren now generates seven figure gifts as Head of Fundraising at Girlguiding. Lauren has also been a judge for the Aviva Community Fund, spoken at the National and Scottish Institute of Fundraising Convention, and featured on Civil Society’s high regarded 25 under 35 most influential fundraisers list and was shortlisted for Fundraising Team of the Year 2021.
I have over 20 years experience in the charity sector and have worked at big, small and medium charities. I started out at NSPCC and then Prostate Cancer UK – which went through huge growth, a merger and brand change in the 10 years I was there. I moved from there to St Joseph’s Hospice, then to Barnardo’s and am now at Scleroderma & Raynaud’s UK (SRUK) as Head of Fundraising & Communications.
Throughout my career I have seen huge changes in the ways that charities use Digital, from the early days of having to set up a Facebook page and convince the CEO we should have a presence on social media to where the sector is now!
In my current role I am leading on the Digital Transformation objective of our strategy to ensure we are using digital tools and data insights to facilitate a supporter centric / audience led approach to all aspects of our work from service delivery to fundraising.
